Introducing a 2nd fert to an established pet fert

Question
Although we usually buy pets in twos (for companionship), because of cost, we could only afford one ferret. We're ready to introduce a new ferret to Fert, our pet fuzzbutt (a neutered male who's about 1 year old). I know to buy a pup (or whatever the young'uns are called), but male or female? How do I introduce them? We have two cages, but a small house, so how soon can they share a cage? What about two sandboxes, two food dishes, etc?

Thanks.

Answer
I think a female might work a little bit better but really it doesn't matter.  If you get a female just make sure that she is fixed.  I would think that they would be able to share a cage relatively soon.  As long as you have them near eachother quite frequently before hand.  They can probably share one litterbox as long as it is big enough.  If not just put 2 in the cage.  They can probably share a food and water dish.  As for introducing them, I would just take the ferret you already have and show it to the new one.  It shouldn't be hard at all.  Good Luck!
