Question
im not sure how o introduce my older ferrett to my new younger fetrret

Answer
Hello!

Congratulations on your new ferret!  Some will get along right away and be best of buddies.  Other times it is not so easy.

The best way to introduce the two is to watch them closely.  Have a small ferret-proofed area for the new kid to explore before bringing in the older one.  This way, he can get used to you and the environment.  You might want to allow several days to a week before allowing any introductions.  Make sure the newcomer is up to date on all vaccinations and disease free.  Remember, some diseases such as ECE and distemper can be transmitted by bringing an infected ferret into your home.  Allowing a quarantine period will reduce the risk of infecting your other ferret.

The next step is to have the two meet.  Have them sniff each other and watch the behavior.  Some ferrets will drag each other around by the nap of the neck.  While this may look violent, it is a way to establish dominance.  Some of these interactions can be extremely vocal, and  unless there is bloodshed or they are too rough  you should not need to separate them.

After a short time, give them a break and repeat in small intervals.  After several meetings, if all goes well, you should be able to allow them more and more time together.  Continue to watch for any odd behavior and to make sure the playtime goes well.

Remember that not all introductions go smoothly.  An older ferret that had little interaction with others is often dominant and territorial.  It can take weeks or months for things to work out.  In some rare situations, harmony cannot be achieved and they must remain separate.

Below are some links with further information.  Some of them go into details on ferret bullies and other problems you may encounter.  If anything specific emerges, I can try to help.
