How long does a female teacup yorkie stay in heat?  I am a first time dog owner.

I am going to assume that this is her first heat.  The usual period of time is one week before the heat the female organ begins to swell during this time a light heat may be observed.  Week two the full heat is on and if it is her first heat it is usually heavy.  Week three the heat begins to wain and then completely stop.  It varies of course from dog to dog and nature has no set rules but this is the usual way that it happens.

You didn't say but I am going to assume that the reason for the question is that you need to know how much longer you will have to put up with the mess.  If you go to a pet store they have doggie diapers that you can put on her to keep the mess in check.  You can buy disposable pads (just like us gals) to put in the diaper.

If you are worried about her getting pregnant then the diaper solution is advisable for that as well.  However, don't count on that exclusively until you are sure she cannot get the diaper off.
