Getting a chorkie?

Question
He is a yorkie and chiuhauha mix and I will be getting him within the next week, just wondering if I should have any kind of health guarantee with him and what that will cover and how long?

Answer
Heather,

It is always a good idea to get a health guarantee if you can.  What it covers largely depends on the status and price of the dog.  I would expect that a purebred dog with an excellent bloodline would require a guarantee against inherited diseases.  This is usually the case especially if the dog was expensive.  On the other end of the spectrum, a mixed breed dog that cost less would either not have a guarantee or the guarantee would be very limited.

In your case I think you can expect that the guarantee would be that the puppy you are purchasing is healthy.  Upon receipt of the puppy it is your responsibility to take it to the veterinarian and have it checked out.  The healthy puppy guarantee would be effective for the first two weeks you have the puppy.  After that any problems would be your responsibility.
