Question
I love this site! Thank you for providing so much helpful information!
My 2 year old Yorkie just had 3 puppies. Mommy is AKC registered as Blue and Gold. Daddy is AKC registered as Black and Tan. Since all Yorkies start out black and tan and it is impossible to know what color they will actually be as adults, what colors should be put on the AKC  registration application?

Answer
Pat,

Black and tan.  In order to be consistent and for people who know what they are looking for black and tan is the thing to put on the papers.  If you put silver and black then I would suspect that the puppies were not purebred.

Pat - I was not implying that you were going to use the color silver and black.  I was using the example that if someone put silver and black as the colors I would think that the puppies might not be purebred because I know that all yorkie puppies are born black and tan.  I am sorry if my answer was confusing to you.  I would also like to say that I spend a great deal of time answering questions on this site and I try to be as helpful as I can. All of the experts on this site are volunteers, which means we don't get paid for our expertise or our time.  My only reward is knowing that I have helped someone along the way.  So I would ask you to consider this in the future before you rate someone so harshly.
