Question
I just got a yorkie puppy who is 10 weeks old. Not sure if she is teething but she is a mean chewing machine and nothing is off limits including my feet. I say a firm no but that doesn't seem to do the trick.  I give her toys but she still wants to play by biting. Any suggestions.

Answer
Julie,

Puppies will be puppies.  Biting is just a part of how they play.  Continue to tell her no when she bites you and move her away from your feet after you say no.  It will take a little time but she will soon catch on that biting the feet is not allowed.  The chewing is another problem.  Get some rawhide sticks from your local grocery store or pet store and when she is chewing on something she is not supposed to then tell her no and give her a rawhide chew.

Consistency and repetition are the keys to training any puppy.  So by being consistent every time she starts to chew on something that she is not supposed to will enable her to catch on and learn not to chew things that are inappropriate.  She is a puppy and needs to chew so give her something that she can chew on.
