Female Yorkies usually go into heat between the ages of nine months to eighteen months. The heat cycle lasts three weeks. The first week they will bleed bright red blood. The second week usually day 7 to day 13 the bleeding will turn from bright red to a milky pinkish color. It is during this time that they can get pregnant. The last week which is day 14 to day 21 their pee pee is usually swollen but they will not breed.
When they drag their butts it is usually one of two things. The first is that they have not gotten all of the feces off their bottom and they are trying to use your carpet as toilet paper. The second has to do with the glands that surround the anus. Those particular glands are used to secrete a female hormone or scent that attracts males. These glands can become plugged and when this occurs the glands fill up with the hormone and it becomes uncomfortable for the dog. What needs to occur is that you will need to take her to the vet so he can squeeze the gland and force the secretions out of the gland thus unblocking it. I know that's gross but it is what it is.
