Lump on back

I noticed my Yorkie had a lump on his back a couple days ago.  He is 6 years old.  Today he is licking it and it seems to be causing him pain.  I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, but I'm worried about it being something serious like cancer.  Could there be something less serious??

Cancer in a Yorkies that is only six years old is not very common.  It could be any number of things including an infection, bug under the skin, a cyst etc.  I would put my money on one of those things before I would worry about cancer.  I am glad you are taking him to the vet tomorrow so he can get treatment for the problem and so you can stop worrying.  If you can, let me know what the vet decides it is.
