aggressive male yorkies

Question
We have had two male yorkies that are very very aggressive and attack the other yorkies. Is this a common thing among males? I also have two other males that are not like this.
One is not even 1 year old and he attacks my little one and causing him to be shy and shaky when the aggressive one is near by. What can we do about this.
Also how old can the male be to be able to impregnate a female?

Answer
Keith,

Unfortunately whenever you have more than one male in a household there is a potential for them to fight.  When you say that they fight do you mean that they actually break skin or could they be just playing roughly?  I am concerned about the little one that is shaky when the aggressive one is nearby.  It is not unheard of for an aggressive male to kill another one.  Males by nature are territorial.  As you know in the wild there is only room for one male and any other males that try to horn in are either killed or wounded.  Because dogs are supposed to be domesticated people often make the mistake of thinking that does not happen.  This is a false belief and it can lead to a heartbreaking situation.

My advise to you would be to either keep the males separate or to sell the aggressive one before tragedy strikes.  If you were not planning on using them for studs I would say get them neutered and see if they get along better but even doing that does not guarantee a good outcome.  The male that is afraid is trying to tell you something, you should listen.

A male can impregnate a female when the male is as young as six months of age.  It really depends on a lot of things but that is usually the earliest.
