Unfortunately I think this is a question for your vet. The reason I say that is because it is not as simple as it sounds. I don't believe that feeding dogs diet food, senior food, or any other specialty food is necessary. I fed my dogs the same dog food all of their lives and they all lived long happy and healthy lives. The only time I varied the feeding process was when I had a female who was with pups. Then I would add chicken or beef to the diet to supplement their protein intake.
Most dog food is basically the same. So what you feed them is really a matter of what you as an individual believe you should feed them. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but this is one of those circumstances where there is no right or wrong answer.
