another question for you!

Question
Hey again Faye.
I have another question for you regarding this amazing breed!  Since talkin gto you last I have been volunteering at the Humane Society in town.  I mostly just take the dogs on runs sinceI am an athlete, the workers love it and I think the dogs love it too.  Anways, the last 2 times I have taken a wonderful Siberian Husky named Jodi.  I was actually wondering if you know if these dogs can learn to hell next to you when you run.  With obiediance training can they learn to stay next to you and actually run with you?  I cant believe how breed into this animal leaidng and pulling is!  Seems like all Jodi wants to do is lead and pull!

Also, last time I asked you a question you told me that it is not wise to have the dog doing anything serious when it is hotter then 70 degrees F.  Can you shave them to make them better athletes in the heat or is that a huge no-no.  You see, I am still interested in this bred but these are to major factors in choosing the right dog for me.

So, to make a long story short, can you shave them, to make them be able to be active in the summer, and can they learn to heel?

    Thanks in advance!

Answer
Hi Nolan,
Good to hear from you again.
Firstly never ever shave a huskies fur,it is a big no no.It will grow back even thicker and hotter than ever before, and also it serves as insulation. So no dont cut it ever.
As for heeling, well that is a bit of a disaster too, occasionally someone out there gets a FREAK husky that does learn to heel. But in the majority they wont learn this too well.I am afraid you will have to take them on their own terms if you wish to have one of this breed as a friend.
I hope this has you heading down the right track.
Faye.
