eating poo

my female gsd is 1years olsd and eats poo from the garden if i dont pick it up within five minuets then she's had it none of my other dogs do this but i cant understand why i'm not lazy but clear the yard once a day but at the moment i cant keep on top of her all the time any ideas

The best solution to stool eating, coprophagy, is cleaning them up before the dog has a chance. The one Shepherd I had was terrible, turning around immediately and eating it.  You can try food additives, the home remedies pineapple juice or canned pumpkin or the commercial products Forbid or Deter.

Why dogs do it is poorly understood. It may be diet related, but changing the dog's diet might cause worse problems. Whatever problems it causes for the owner, it doesn't seem to hurt the dog unless you are trying to clear up a worm infestation.  often they grow out of it.
