Question
hi, ruby is 7 months old. everytime we go out for a walk and a car passes she will lay down, try to chase it while barking. i try to stop on the side of the road and keep her eyes on me or try and block her view with my legs but nothing works. what can i do?

Answer
Hi Lucy,

While walking, correct her with a training collar and walk the opposite direction of the approaching car or make u-turns or tight left turns whenever a car approaches.  Keep her attention on you by praising her whenever she looks up at you rather than the car.  Don't stop but keep her walking.  Make figure eights with her.  Doing a lot of turns will help her realize that she better pay attention to you rather than the cars because she'll not like bumping into you all the time and being corrected for looking the wrong direction.

While driving, you can try putting her in a crate while driving and blocking her views of the windows with a sheet or a large piece of cardboard.

Let me know how it goes.
