Question
I have a 3 pound 5 month chi. im getting really frustrated potty training her. For some reason she will poo on the potty pad but pee on my tile floor? im trying to get her to both pee and poo on the pad. I just bought a huge crate and covered with potty pads. I put her little bed in the crate and she ended up pooing on it? also, she stepped into the litter box i put in at the end on the cage and got poo all over her paws and the cage. i dont know what to do.... the only thing left in her cage is the water bowl. i need help!

Answer
Are you thoroughly cleaning the tile after she pees? I would blot the urine with an actual pad so that the scent is there and see if she goes and praise her tons when she does. I think the other problem is your putting pads in her crate when the crate should be her den, like her bedroom, if you put pads in there your basically telling her it's ok to soil her "den". Why don't you pen a section in the kitchen and get a small crate for her bed only, big enough to where she can move around but no room to have a section as her bathroom, then outside to a corner cover the area with pads, start off with a big area and monitor where she pees, soon she will start going to a certain area and you can make the pad section smaller, if she pees on the tile then you need to make the section bigger. Make sure you clean the tile with a urine cleaner that they sell at pet shops, white vinegar works well too. You can't have any area smelling like urine or she will repeatedly use that one area. I don't understand why you have a litter box? You either use the litter box or pads, but both are confusing and it's no wonder the darling is going everywhere!
