Anal Glands

Question
I have an 18 month female bichon who seems to suffer with infected anal glands.  She has now been on antibiotics twice because of this and I have been told that I will now have to get them emptied at the vet regularly.  Is there anything that I can do to help her i.e. diet etc.  The last time I took her to have them emptied they filled up by the next day and had become infected.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Hello Tracey
Yes there is a lot that you can do, Firstly you must alter her diet completely, start by introducing green beans raw , carrot batons, raw, apple slices raw, less chicken, less rice and pasta, more tomatoes, cucumber and pears, then start by giving her water only no milk, no eggs, no cheese and also go to health shop buy her fibre diet tablest (Holland and Barratt) give her 1 daily every day.
Most of this is due to her diet and lack of a high fibre source, you should find that she will improve very quickly and will not need this done, Also the use of pumpkin is a great source of fibre as is mashed potatoes instead of the commercial foods, also try to get her on a raw food diet  look at
