Housebreaking my Beagle

Question
I have a 8 month old female Beagle named Daizy.  I also have a 2 year old Beagle named Lucy.  Lucy was fully trained when I got Daizy but Daizy is exceptionally harder to train.  She constantly pees in the house and also in her crate at night even though I bring her out every night before putting her in it.  They have an area outside which they use but usually even after going outside, Daizy will come back in and go on the floor again.  I have had the vet check her and there is nothing medically wrong so why is she so hard to train to stop doing this.  What can I do to make her only go outside.  Now my older one is starting to mimic her behavior of peeing wherever she feels like it and she never did this before.  Please help !!!!!

Answer
Hello Lynn,
This can be frustrating. It took me 8 months to train my beagle, but I never used a crate/kennel. A beagle is one of the hardest animals to train. I am going to suggest that you start Daizy out on puppy training pads. Lay them in the spot that she keeps on going in and then progressively keep moving them closer to the door day by day. Then when you see her at the door you will know to take her this also trains her to go up to the door when she needs to go to the bathroom. This will take time and effort I can assure you. But she is still young so she will more than likely catch on quickly. Also make sure you are feeding her food portions correctly than can impact on how and when she designates. At her age she should only be getting a half a cup 2-3 times a day. If you need anymore help with anything please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck to you all!
