Question
Hi, Wendy,

My husband and I are thinking about adopting another Cattle Dog mix. One current dog (Jynx) is a 60lb Cattle Dog mix, and we're interested in a 5 month old Cattle Dog/Beagle mix. The Human Society estimates that she's only 20 lbs and won't get any larger. I remember that Jynx took a long time to finish growing; when do Cattle Dogs generally reach their mature weight?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jen, We currently own a 7 month old male ACD puppy who weighs about 40 lbs. I estimate that upon maturity he will weigh 55-56 lbs. He should reach adult weight by 20 months old or so.But, you do need to consider bone density and thickness as it has much to do with how much they will ultimately weigh. If she is light boned she may not gain too much more weight....probably will mature out at 30 lbs. If she has thicker bone she will get heavier. She sounds darling....hope you adopt her. Best, Wendy
