new Akita in home, ????

Question
I recently purchased and brought home a 4.5 month Akita male.  He was playful and energetic at his home where he was with his parents and sister.  Once I put him inside the car and took him home he seemed very scared and depressed.  I brought him into his new backyard, and he would not move from one spot.  He would not drink nor eat, and he was very sad.  I read that Akitas can suffer from severe seperation anxiety, especially if they are over bonded with their family.  Is this normal that he wouldnt move from one spot, or walk around or anything? Is this because he was with his family too long? and you should get the puppy at a younger age like 8 weeks?  Are all Akitas like this? He was so sad that I couldnt bare to see him like that so I took him back within 12 hrs of bringing him home. I am just wondering If perhaps he will be okay if i bring him home again, or does he need to stay with his parents?  Should I look for a different akita?  What do you advise?  Thank you very much for your help, and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

David

Answer
Well, usally all akitas do this but not as bad if you get them at a younger age. You could get one that old and eventually it would snap out of it. But this would be very stressful on you and the dog. And could cause the dog to develope sever anxiety like you stated. Ive never recommeneded obtaining older dogs. I think the best thing you could do is get a younger dog. It will work out better. But if your heart is set on the one you picked out then it will probaley work out but i dont recomended this i think your best bet is to get a dog about 8 weeks old
hope this helps
