Akita nibbling

Question
My three year old male Akita has had a strange habit since we got him.  He likes to nibble on the bedspread.  It's an obsession!  We tried to use a spray bottle, distracting him, saying no or stop, pop cans filled with coins (loud noise), everything!  He doesn't sleep in the bedroom, but even if I just try to have the door open while I'm in there he'll walk over to the bed calmly and just nibble it with his front teeth.  We just don't understand why he does this.  He never grabs anything he isn't suppose to anymore except for a stray sock now and then.  And he is well trained in everything else.  We try not to touch him (so he doesn't think it's attention) but sometimes if I do have to pull him away he continues to nibble, straining to get to the bed.  Please help!

Answer
well akitas can exebit alot of strange behavior and do it for no apparent reason. He could possibly have a toothache and it soothes it to chew on something like that. you may try chew toys are treats to distract him. If that dosnt work try getting him his own bedspread, it is a possibilty. this is probaley just a habit he picked up and keeping him away from this for extended periods could make him break this habit.
