CAT DRINKING

Question
I want to purchase a recycling fountain for our lanai.  What can I use to keep it anit-bacterial that won't hurt our cat if he drinks from it.  Rusty is male, 5 years old, likes to lick anything I've cleaned with chlorox solution.

Answer
Hello Suzanne!

You can wash it out with bleach, rinse well, and have absolutely no problem.  Just regular everyday unscented bleach.  It will kill everything, bacterial or otherwise, and will be perfectly safe if rinsed well.  :o)

Hope that helps!  :o)

UPDATE:  I went ahead and asked about this on the cat forum I'm a member on...and most of them said they either just wash theirs with really hot water, or put it in the dishwasher.

Question: Any particular reason you have to clean it so thoroughly?  Just wanted to be sure, since with the average cat, just using something like Ivory dish soap with hot water should be enough.  :o)

Let me know what you think.  :o)
