rough playing and toilet training

Question
Hello,

I have a one-year old, male, seal point siamese who has been neutered at 4 months of life.
I would like to ask you two questions, if possible.
The first one: my cat Misha is very gentle, loves to be handled and likes to be around people. However, sometimes he gets excited and while we are caressing him he bites us on the arms or legs. He does not bite hard; it does not really hurt. It is as if he were playing with another cat. He does not seem to act in a aggressive way, but it can be sometimes annoying when all the sudden he jumps on you and gives a little bite on your arm. My wife sometimes tries to scare him by yelling  "Ouch". Is there a way to make him understand that we don't want to play this game?

The other issue is that we are toilet training him. After a few months he can pee very well using the special toilet seat we bought. However, everytime we try to remove the little boxes with the litter that go on the toilet seat, he will defecate on the floor (even if he continues peeing OK on the toilet seat). The other day he even defecated on our bed, so I put the little boxes under the seat again and am trying to give him some more time. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hello Marcelo!

Sounds like you've got a rough-player on your hands!  He's young yet, so you've still got a good opportunity to teach him it's not okay.  My main suggestion would be a rather light tap on the head when he does it.  Just be consistant (don't worry, it's not abusive or painful, just enough to snap him out of it), and this will get him to stop.  Another thing you can try is telling him to get down whenever he does it.  Enough time of being ousted from your space and from the game he was so enjoying, and he'll get the idea.

As far as toilet-training, I've honestly never tried it with any of my cats, so I wouldn't be able to give you any advice regarding the process.  I did, however, find an article online that might help.  It's regarding the things that the books don't say, and such.  Let me know if it helps!
