misbehaving cat

Question
My husband got this cat about 2 years ago, she was just a kitten then. Over the years she has been nothing but a pain. I don't really have the heart to get rid of her, but I'm about to have a baby and I don't have the time or patience to deal w/ her. My husband does not want to get rid of her, he says "just give her time"...(time for what??)
If we did try to give her away I don't think anyone else would have the patience to put up w/ her behavior.
We have to keep all of our doors closed to block the cat off from certain rooms (she pees in our bedroom [specifically on our bed], trashes the bathroom, chews on all the electrical wires in our office, etc...); she chews on books and pees on our photos. She is well fed, has a scratching post and numerous toys (until she destroys/eats them). She is spayed, but not de-clawed & up-to-date on all of her shots. She does well w/ our dog. But she freaks out at the sight of another cat. She bites when being pet, but doesn't mind playful wrestling. I want to make her an outside cat, but she HATES going outside.
I need advice b/c this cat is driving me up the wall.

Answer
Marie,

You just have a very energetic...bored cat. She really does need a friend to play with and keep her occupied. Even if she doesn't like cats, a new cat her age will keep her busy.
She needs a lot of attention and love. She's doing all those 'bad' things to get your attention. Bad attention is better than no attention. Plus she knows you don't like her and she's reacting to that.

The only thing I can do is to help is give you a link to an article that may be helpful to you about behavior.

I hope this helps some.
