Question
Hi,
My cat (a 2yr old bengal) was knocked down by a car about 6 months ago, and ever since, has been acting withdrawn. Lately, Ive noticed he's been pulling out his fur, all over, could this be the stress from the accident? Also, I have been keeping him confined to the house since the accident, do you think this would make him stressed? I dont think its fleas that are causing the fur pulling as hes been treated with frontline.
thank you,
Rachel

Answer
Rachel,

The fur pulling is caused by emotional problems, stress and/or boredom.

Yes the stress of the accident combined with being inside could have caused it. Or even a head injury.

You should take the cat to the vet to be examined. He/she can prescribe 'kitty Prozac' on a temporary or long term basis. It is very popular as a calming medication for cats having behavior such as yours. I would speak to your the vet about it.
