Jealous Siamese

Question
I have a tempermental 3 year old female Siamese.  Her behavior is starting to get worrisome.  My son returned home 4 days ago from a 2 week vacation.  We came home this evening and our cat had peed on his bed.  Lately she has been hissing at my boyfriend and really gets angry with hissing and spitting at his daughter.  They only have to walk into the room and the cat goes nuts.  I am concerned our cat is very jealous of everyone.  She usually sleeps with me at night unless my boyfriend is over for the weekend and we close the door due to his allergies.  I am concerned the cat's behavior will get worse and I don't know what to do about it.  I can't tolerate the peeing on the bed and the spitting at the daughter scares her terribly.

Answer
Hi Cheryl,

First off, get her to the vet to be checked to make sure she is not sick. The peeing and the hissing could be signs that she is sick.
If she checks out ok then onto the next steps. It could be that any change in your household is stressing her out. Try getting a product called Feliway. Get the whole house atomizer. This acts as a kitty tranquilizer. She sounds like she needs that. You can also have your boyfriend bring her special treats for her when he comes over. Deli chicken works wonders. You want to have her associate him with good things. As for the daughter, she needs to wait her turn. Your cat may get stressed from too many people around her.

The most likely reason she did what she did to your son is because of the strange smells he brought back on him. Once he washes his stuff all should go back to normal. Good luck.
