lumps on my cats stomach

Question
My cats entire stomach is completely lumped up. The lumps are huge and seem to be just one giant mass. They just showed up recently and I thought maybe she was lactating at first but she didn't have any kittens. My other cat has had kittens recently and i thought maybe she was lactating because the other cat was but they haven't gone away yet. Do you have any idea of what it could be?

Answer
Jenni,

I honestly have no idea what these lumps could be.  It doesn't sound good, though, and I would get her to the vet.  Any type of lump on a cat is not normal, as lumps are not part of a healthy cats body, therefore, this definitely warrants a trip to the vet.  You state it looks like one big mass.  Are they inside her abdomen, and you can see them, or are they all on the outside of her abdomen?

Regardless of where they're located, she will need a vet visit.  They could be abscesses, they could be cancer, they could be a parasitic infestation, they could be a chronic illness where the actual lining of the stomach and intestines is thickened and can be bumpy and irregular. It really could be anything, but none of what I'm thinking they could be is good.

Also, could she be pregnant?  It's possible you can see and feel babies in a close to term mom.  But if that's not possible, then call first thing in the AM and make an appt to bring her in.  She could be in pain as well (cats won't let on that they're in pain until it's absolutely unbearable) and I don't think you'd want that for her.
